About the Role

We are in need of a qualified teacher for our Grades Late Extended Care program. Late Extended Care teachers in the Grades 1-8 program are responsible for overseeing, along with input from their faculty team, developmentally appropriate Waldorf curriculum based activities for both indoor and outdoor play. This role is an extension of the classroom programs in that extended care faculty are expected to continue to nurture the development and unique capacities of each child in the context of the whole class, and according to the Waldorf pedagogy and curriculum.


Qualified candidates for the Late Extended Care Positions will:

  • To bring into practice and manifestation the shared vision of our Waldorf School.

  • As a teacher, nurture the development and unique capacities of each child within the context of the whole class and according to the Waldorf pedagogy and curriculum

  • Provide, along with grades team input, developmentally appropriate Waldorf Education related activities for hours following the Core Program

  • Work as a member of the Faculty collegially and supportively

  • Hold the late-extended-hours program for children Grades 1-8 working collaboratively with Preschool extended care programs for possible program consolidations and support as needed

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience working with elementary school-aged children 

  • Respect for the Alabama Waldorf School educational policies and curriculum as informed by Rudolph Steiner's work and the anthroposophical lens of developmental life stages in the child 0-14 years.


  • Agreement with the school’s Policy and Procedures Handbook and the Faculty Handbook 

  • Ability to use smartphone app-based software to record hours 


 Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher

  • Experience working with the consensus model of decision-making

  • Waldorf teaching experience

  • Supervisory experience

  • Extended Care (after-school) experience
