About the Role

We are in need of a qualified teacher for our Preschool Extended Day program (18 months - 6 years old). Extended Care teachers in both Kindergarten and Nursery are responsible for implementing, along with input from their faculty team, developmentally appropriate Waldorf curriculum based activities for both indoor and outdoor play. This role is an extension of the classroom programs in that extended care faculty are expected to continue to nurture the development and unique capacities of each child in the context of the whole class, and according to the Waldorf pedagogy and curriculum. 


Qualified candidates for the Extended Care Positions will: 


  • Bring into practice and manifestation the shared vision of our Waldorf School

  • As a teacher, nurture the development and unique capacities of each child within the context of the whole class and according to the Waldorf pedagogy and curriculum 

  • Implement, along with Preschool team input, developmentally appropriate Waldorf Curriculum for hours following the Core Program 

  • Work as a member of the Faculty collegially and supportively 

  • Hold the late-extended-hours program for children ages 3 - 6 (KG) in collaboration with the nursery class (ages 18 months - 3 yrs) and to work collaboratively with Grades Extended Care programs for possible program consolidations

Requirements

Minimum Requirements


  • High school diploma, or equivalent

  • Experience working with children

  • Acceptance, as a working hypothesis for teaching (not necessarily for one’s personal beliefs), the work of Rudolf Steiner, founder of Waldorf education, as brought in Faculty studies, teacher presentations during in-school workshops and through other pertinent Waldorf training

  • Agreement with the school’s Policy and Procedures Handbook and the Faculty Handbook


Preferred Experience


  • Bachelor's Degree or higher

  • Experience working with the consensus model of decision-making

  • Waldorf teaching experience

  • Supervisory experience

  • Extended Care (after-school) experience
