Congratulations, AWS Alumni!

These AWS alumni from Ms. Lynda Powell’s class graduated with honors from high school this May. We are so proud of them!

Bronwyn Hall

Bronwyn Hall graduated with honors from the Jefferson County School of Visual Arts at Shades Valley High School. She ranked in the Top 20 of her class four years in a row. Bronwyn participated in the 2018 President's Education Awards Program, and achieved Outstanding Academic Achievement in French III. She was voted "Most Imaginative" by her classmates. Earlier this year, Bronwyn was awarded the Dinnie May Mackey Award for Excellence in English.

Darien Malone

Darien Malone graduated with a 3.5 GPA from the Jefferson County School of Visual Arts at Shades Valley High School, and was inducted into the National Art Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. She was also elected Vice President of the National Art Honor Society and the Shades Valley Art Club. Darien plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the Fall of 2018. She'll be majoring in Psychology, and plans to get her doctorate.

Isaac Westfall

Isaac Westfall graduated from the Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School. Isaac’s father Andy says, “Isaac has done extremely well at JCIB and his teacher Lynda Powell and AWS are certainly a big part of the foundation for that success.” Isaac's accomplishments include a GPA over 4.0, 14 academic departmental awards, two AP Scholar with Honor Awards, and he was one of 10 seniors selected for the IB Learner Profile Award. He is a member of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, and the National Honor Society. He participated in the Scholar's Bowl and History Bowl, played in the Shades Valley High School marching band, and was voted “most likely to be president” by his classmates. Isaac will be attending Auburn University, where he will be in the honors college.
