In 2021, Alabama Waldorf School undertook its most recent strategic visioning process.

An inclusive and transparent process, it involved our all major governance parties; Board of Trustees, Faculty & Staff, and the Family Association (that includes ALL parents), plus key stakeholders, such as alumni, former families, and former personnel, will be asked for their input and participation.

First, a survey was circulated to current and past parents, faculty, admin, Board of Trustees, and alumni via email, social media, and our website. Next, two SWOT analysis sessions were held, one with Faculty & Staff only, and one that included a committee of Board Members, Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Community Members. This information was then collated by the committee into five guiding principles and numerous tangible objectives and voted on by the full faculty. The objectives include both strengths that we want to maintain and nurture, and opportunities for strengthening and improvement. The plan is currently being assigned to sub-committees and teams to be followed and fulfilled over the next 5-7 years.

As part of our 2022 re-accreditation by AWSNA, SAIS, and WECAN, we identified these primary improvement goals:

  • Fairly Compensate our Faculty & Staff

  • Create a Succession Plan for Staff, Faculty, & Board

  • Execute Consistent & Thorough Resource and Fixed Asset Planning

  • Diversify Donor Sources to Increase Fund Development

  • Increase Representation of Diverse Backgrounds, Genders and Identities

  • Cultivate Inclusivity in our Developmentally Appropriate Values Policies, Practices, and Communication

  • Enrich Parent Education and Experience

  • Develop Alumni Advocates

  • Collaborate and Volunteer with Community Organizations and Events
