Preschool Summer Sessions follow the Alabama Waldorf School Early Childhood Curriculum and classroom rhythms. During Summer Sessions young children can find comfort and security in the rhythm, social interactions, and play time they enjoy. Summer Sessions: Provide Consistent Routines. Young children will maintain daily rhythms similar to those they experience throughout the school year. These rhythms will continue to contribute to a child's feeling of security and stability at school. Encourage Social Interaction. Building relationships with other children fosters a sense of confidence as they form connections and friendships their community. Support Emotional Well-Being. Children experience a sense of purpose and accomplishment when participating in age-appropriate activities and purposeful play at school. Enhance Skill Development: Summer Sessions incorporate educational and developmental activities contributing to a child's skill development. Age-appropriate learning experiences enhance their sense of competence and strengthen their natural abilities. Nature will guide each project as children observe and transform what they see into art. The week will also include one special collaborative project that encourages teamwork, shared imagination, and a sense of community through creativity. We look forward to guiding you as you explore Alabama Waldorf School and discover everything we have to offer. Below is a step-by-step outline of our process from application to enrollment. Enrollment From Application to Enrollment School Tours The first step in our admissions process is scheduling a tour. Tours are scheduled on Thursdays and are for adults only. If you are able, we suggest you make arrangements for your children during this time. Tours are led by our Director of Enrollment who will be able to answer all of your questions during this time. Student Visit During a student visit, your child will spend time with their prospective classmates. For Early Childhood classes, the parent will bring the child at a scheduled time to explore the classroom and play. For elementary and middle school students, we will contact you to schedule a classroom visit for your child. Application Information After the tour, you will receive a folder with your application along with additional information about each of our programs. A $120 non-refundable, one-time application fee is required along with the submission of your application. For students applying to grades 1-8, transcripts must be submitted with the application. Acceptance, Registration, and Enrollment Acceptance is contingent on a consensus vote by the Faculty Team. Upon acceptance, the Enrollment Director will contact your family with a list of items needed before your child can be enrolled. Some of these items are enrollment forms, a non-refundable registration fee of $170, a signed financial tuition agreement. Parent Interviews Following the receipt and review of your application, we will contact you to schedule a time for a teacher and parent interview. The teacher and parent will meet to discuss classroom expectations and school policies, as well as our Community Pledge, and to ensure the school is indeed a good fit for the prospective family.     Learn about Alabama Waldorf School’s student medication policy, including procedures for prescription and over-the-counter medications, authorization forms, and safe administration during the school day. Medication and Treatment Authorization AUTHORIZATION FOR ADMINISTERING MEDICATION/MEDICAL PROCEDURES Parent's/Guardian's written permission is required to administer medication or medical procedures to your child. Any prescription drug or over-the-counter drug sent to Alabama Waldorf School must be in its original container and must be clearly labeled with your child's name, the name of the drug, and directions for administering the drug.
